Viking Justice, Part II

Dr. Andrew Dennis, among other things co-translater of the old Icelandic law code Grágáshas made his 1974 doctoral thesis available online.  You can read Grágás : an examination of the content and technique of the old Icelandic Law Books, focussed on Þingskapaþáttr (the 'Assembly Section') at DSpace, the University of Cambridge's online repository. This is one of the most comprehensive and well-researched work on this topic in the English language.

We have previously posted about the sophistication of Old Norse law (including survival of elements in our own, modern legal systems).
