Andre Bouchard Nominated to Delaware Court of Chancery

Andre Bouchard has been nominated by Governor Jack Markell to serve as the 21st Chancellor of the Delaware Court of Chancery. Assuming he is confirmed by the Delaware Senate, Bouchard will replace Leo Strine, Jr., who was appointed Chief Justice of the Delaware Supreme Court earlier this year.

Bouchard, a 1986 Harvard Law School graduate, is the managing partner of Bouchard, Margules & Friedlander P.A.  He practiced for ten years at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.

The Court of Chancery is Delaware's unique court of equitable jurisdiction. It is one of Delaware's three constitutional courts, along with the Supreme Court and Superior Court. Because of Delaware's central place in the incorporation and formation of business entity, courts around the country look to Chancery Court decisions to help determine the common law on issues relating to fiduciary duties, shareholder rights, and other matters related to corporate and business entity governance.

The official press release regarding Bouchard's nomination can be found here.
